Quail Hollow: Championship Golf and Established South Charlotte Living

Tree-lined championship golf fairways in Quail Hollow, Charlotte

Luxe Living

Few Charlotte addresses carry the recognition of Quail Hollow. For more than six decades the neighborhood has grown up around one of America’s best-known championship courses, and today it pairs mature, tree-lined streets and distinguished residences with a location minutes from SouthPark and Uptown.

The Setting

Quail Hollow sits in south Charlotte, roughly between Park Road and Carmel Road, north of Pineville and Ballantyne and a short drive from SouthPark. The neighborhood began taking shape around the course in the 1970s, and its age shows in the best way: tall hardwoods, generous lots, and an established, settled feel. The most sought-after homesites border the course itself, with views across fairways, greens, and water.

The Architecture

Homes range widely, from classic mid-century brick to grand custom estates. The finest residences sit along the course. They are traditional and transitional designs in brick and stone, with two-story foyers, columned entries, main-level primary suites, wine cellars, custom millwork, and outdoor living spaces with pools and outdoor kitchens. Many older homes have been renovated or rebuilt. Knowing a home’s renovation history, and which streets and homesites hold their value, matters a great deal here.

The Club

Quail Hollow Club, founded in 1959, is the neighborhood’s centerpiece. George Cobb designed the course, which opened in 1961. Arnold Palmer later refined it, and Tom Fazio redesigned it over several renovations to prepare it for major championships. It has hosted the PGA Championship in 2017 and 2025, the 2022 Presidents Cup, and the PGA Tour’s annual stop in Charlotte, now the Truist Championship. The club is private, and membership is separate from homeownership. Buyers drawn to club life should explore membership alongside the home search.

The Location

  • Minutes to SouthPark’s shopping, dining, and offices
  • Roughly 15 to 20 minutes to Uptown Charlotte via Park Road or I-77
  • Easy access to I-77 and I-485, and a straightforward drive to Charlotte Douglas International Airport
  • Close to Park Road Shopping Center and the Carmel Road corridor
  • Served by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools (check current school assignments for each address), with several well-regarded private schools nearby

Who It Suits

Quail Hollow suits buyers who want an established, close-in Charlotte address: golfers who value a championship pedigree, executives who want short drives to SouthPark and Uptown, and families who want mature trees and room to spread out without leaving the city. It also appeals to buyers relocating to Charlotte who want one of the city’s most recognized neighborhoods.

A Private Conversation

No two Quail Hollow homes are alike. Course frontage, lot size, renovation history, and street-by-street differences all shape value. I would welcome a private conversation about the homes and homesites that fit the way you live.
