The Club at Longview: Old-World Estates on a Jack Nicklaus Signature Course

Some communities are built around a view. The Club at Longview was built around a landscape: rolling former farmland, once known as Longview Black Jack Farm, reshaped into one of the most distinguished private golf communities south of Charlotte.

The Setting

Development began in 2001, and The Club at Longview opened in 2003. The community sits just across the Mecklenburg–Union County line with a Waxhaw address, behind a controlled-access gate. Inside, private roads curve past mature landscaping, water features, and homesites that commonly range from about half an acre to more than three acres.

The Architecture

Longview’s character is unmistakably Old World. The developer’s travels through Europe shaped the design language, and it shows: slate roofs, limestone detailing, hand-laid brick, and copper accents. An architectural review process has kept that standard consistent for more than two decades.

European-inspired stone estate residence

The housing is varied rather than uniform. Grand custom estates sit alongside golf-course residences and cottage-style homes, which gives buyers more than one way into the community. For a design-minded buyer, the craftsmanship in many of these homes is exactly the kind of foundation worth building on.

The Club

At the center is a Jack Nicklaus Signature 18-hole course, with tree-lined fairways, elevation changes, and water in play. The private club also offers dining, a resort-style pool, tennis and racquet sports, fitness facilities, and a full calendar of social and family programming.

One important note: club membership is separate from homeownership. Membership categories and requirements vary, so confirm the current details with both the club and the HOA before you buy.

The Location

  • About 15 to 20 minutes to Ballantyne via Providence Road and Highway 16
  • Under 10 minutes to historic downtown Waxhaw
  • Close to Skyecroft, Marvin, and the equestrian countryside of Waxhaw
  • Served by Union County Public Schools (school assignments can change, so verify them directly with Union County Public Schools)

Who It Suits

Longview suits buyers who want estate-level privacy, a true private club, and architecture with a sense of permanence. It is equally at home for a golfer, a family, or someone who simply wants a beautifully kept setting close to Charlotte.

A Private Conversation

Value at Longview depends on far more than square footage: the homesite, the golf or water view, the architecture, and the quality of updates all matter. If Longview is on your list, whether you’re buying, selling, or simply curious about what your home might be worth, I would be glad to share a current market perspective.
